With more sophisticated song structures and a delicate execution, PBC channel the best parts of Beach House with tinges of Cocteau Twins and a West Coast wispiness that fits their aesthetic perfectly. Moon Tides is out on August 20 on Partisan Records. Loving everything we've heard so far. VIA

Today marks the release of Beach House's latest record Teen Dream. This album, Beach Houses' third, is nothing short of a masterpiece. As Animal Collective did last January with Merriweather Post Pavilion, Beach House has set the bar incredibly high for 2010.

Teen Dream represents the high water mark in not only the duo's songwriting talents, but also in their production techniques. Lush autumnal soundscapes are tastefully laid bare behind intertwining harmonies and the most compelling melodies and lyrics Beach House have produced to date. From the melancholy sadness of "Used to Be" to the dreamy opener "Zebra" Teen Dream delivers the complete package of a true album, holding strong through all ten tracks with a mature, accessible sound yet, one that consistently upholds the duo's artistic integrity and ability to move the entire genre ever forward.

See, good things happen to good bands. Nothing more to say here other than congrats from Stark! Here are the details from their new label on what we can expect from the new Beach House record.

In July the band took a break from touring to head to upstate New York to record with Chris Coady at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock. They spent a solid month in solitude writing and recording in the church-converted-to-studio compound. What they emerged with is their greatest work to date! Beach House’s third album will be released on Sup Pop (and on Bella Union overseas) in early 2010...WE CAN'T WAIT.

McCarren Pool Party Thing on Waterfront Now

The beloved Sunday music festivals once held in Greenpoint/Williamsburg's one-time community pool, McCarren pool, are back! The concert series will still be hosted by Jelly NYC but transported to the East River State Park on the Williamsburg Waterfront. They keep the "pool" label even though the event will be devoid of any actual pools. Sorry. The time for drinking away Sunday hangovers amid indie-rock jams, sunshine and all while scoping walking American Apparel ads is upon us once again. Rock and or Roll. Give it up for Jelly though, they have managed to pack the bill with some of indie rocks biggest names, Grizzly Bear, Deerhunter, Girl Talk, No Age, Beach House, Dirty Projectors - I mean, these could be more of a gong show than that MGMT disaster last summer. New Beach House Video + Tour Dates w/ The Walkmen

Beach House "Used to Be"

Pitchfork TV just debuted Beach House's video for their newest single, "Used to Be". At once lovely and painful, the video depicts a couple moving through, seemingly, the last stages of a break-up occuring at a pit stop on some lonesome cross-country trip. Filmed in the midst of the gorgeous desolation that only the American West can provide, the video perfectly captures the longing and melancholy that runs through most Beach House songs.

Beach House hits the road with The Walkmen for several dates. Check them out after the jump...

CMJ Watch: Beach House, Dent May, Fight Bite, Bell

Finding a loaded showcase can make a night on the streets of CMJ much easier. It eliminates all the running around, half drunk and tired trying to find your way to the next show. That being said, here are two showcases where you could sit all night and relax. We know you won't - but you COULD.

The first is the Paw Tracks/Car Park/Force Field PR showcase at Le Poisson Rouge on Wednesday night (10/22). Highlights here are definitely new-comer Dent May and Beach House. Paw Tracks will release May's debut The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele February 2. Apparently he recorded this in a trailer in his home town of Taylor, Mississippi. Yeah, it's a bit of a wait, but his Serge Gainsbourg-inspired tropicalia is certainly worth it. Definitely one to watch for in 2009.

That brings us to a loaded Thursday evening (10/23) at Pianos for the Force Field PR showcase featuring Stark favorite Fight Bite, as well as Bell, Crystal Stilts, and Stars Like Fleas. Like we said, you could easily saddle up at Pianos for the entire evening. Texas duo Fight Bite's debut album Emerald Eyes is due October 28th. Emerald Eyes is filled with gauzy synths, lovely reverb-drenched vocals, and melancholy overtones. Put it on the list.

Buckle Up for CMJ 2008

It's that time of year again, when bands both big and small converge upon New York City for a debaucherous, music-filled five days...that's right we're talking about the 2008 CMJ Music Marathon. Spanning Oct. 21 to Oct. 25, there's just too much to see. We'll do our best...this isn't our full time job. Come on! (in Gob voice.)

Stark has enjoyed watching certain acts from all over the nation strive for immediate, Black Kids-like fame. Alas, they're not all that lucky.
