New Music:: Laura Marling - "Master Hunter"

Dig this new tune from Laura Marling, "Master Hunter" from her forthcoming album Once I Was An Eagle out May 28th. She is really changing her musical tact in a positive, modern way all while sticking to her traditional song structures and lyrical nuances. We like the nod to Bob Dylan Laura.

Lissie Returns with "Shameless"
Not really too much to say about Lissie that hasn't been said here in the past - so we'll let you live with her huge new single "Shameless" which finds her stepping out of the pop/country/americana world and into an edgier more rock zone. Enjoy. We are. "Shameless" comes out June 16 in the UK (Columbia).
Rhye - Open (Bondax Remix)
A healthy first day streaming number for this bad boy. Enjoy.

New Music:: Mr. Little Jeans - "Oh Sailor"
Mr. Little Jeans. What can we say? It's been an enigmatic name dropping a smattering of tunes for the past couple years with no defined direction or end. It started with Neon Gold, the song "Angel", "Faking Gold" a few remixes including one from RAC, an EP....then it was "Rescue Song", "Suburbs", few more remixes here and there. Now, she is back with "Oh Sailor." Let's begin by saying, we were and still are fans. But something about "Oh Sailor' sounds a bit generic to us. The gang-vocal chorus, the jangled chime-laden beats...we can't quite put our finger on it, but this doesn't ever go to the next gear, the next level. You aren't popping the clutch, and ripping that thing in to the top right. It's nice. But something is flat. You tell us...

Quadron Returns with Avalanche
After a few appearances on Stark in 2010 Quadron - who is Danish-born vocalist Coco O. and red-hot producer Robin Hannibal - have signed to Sylvia Rhone's new label Vested in Culture (Epic) and will be releasing their new album Avalanche on June 4. The fantastic new video and track are above - and watch for Coco and Robin to be everywhere in the coming weeks. Quadron plays LPR in NY 4/25 and the Getty Center in LA 5/18.

Rhye - Open (SOHN REMIX)
Is Rhye going to be some sleeper NPR favorite and cross in to the mainstream? TBD. But, until the jury weighs in, dig this remix from my favorite new producer/musicisan SOHN. Watch out for this dude too...

Kurt Vile's Career Defining New Album
Kurt Vile may have already ended the race for 2013 album of the year. At the very least it's a top 5 contender. Vile is Philly brethren, and we've been following him for a (surprising) amount of time. Oh how the blog years stack up. We can't say enough about his expansive and overwhelmingly excellent new album Walkin' on a Pretty Daze (4/9 Matador). Go stream it right now - or sift through the experience of the streaming track below. I foresee the purchase of this double LP next Tuesday evening.
