2014 Starts With A Remix - Wild Club - "Thunder Clatter (Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. Remix)"

Happy New Year! My absence from the blog has not been intentional...lot of life events that have led to my departure, but with a new year comes a new effort to get back into it. Big thanks to Matt for keeping things afloat during my unplanned hiatus. Came across this dope remix of Wild Club's alternative radio hit "Thunder Clatter" done by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. It tickled the remix bone in my body. So here it is. Posted. In 2014. For you. To. Enjoy.

Rhye - Open (SOHN REMIX)

Is Rhye going to be some sleeper NPR favorite and cross in to the mainstream? TBD. But, until the jury weighs in, dig this remix from my favorite new producer/musicisan SOHN. Watch out for this dude too...

Rhye - Open (Jeff Samuel Faded Remix)

Rhye is no stranger to Pitchfork's coveted 'Best New Music' title; they were there before with "The Fall" and are there again with Jeff Samuel's remix of "Open." Rhye is starting to turn more and more heads daily, including Jody Rosen of the New York Times. Enjoy and look for more to come from the mysterious Rhye.

Javelin Remix of The Very Best's "Julia"

It is known that the second (or third) best song off of the Very Best's newest album, Warm Heart of Africa, is "Julia" (taking a back seat to "Chalo" or the title track.) Newly-established Brooklyn-based-duo Javelin, decided to take this song, which speaks of love loss and heart break (we don't speak Chichewa., Esau told us) making it more...well...Brooklyn-ized. A beat once established by Radioclits' electro-synths, is now driven by vamped, sped up, hard-riffing guitars. An interesting take on a great song.

Enjoy the mp3 above.

Mayer Hawthorne: "Just Ain't Gonna Work Out (Remix)"

As if Mayer Hawthorne's silky-smooth falsetto vocals weren't relaxing enough, Astronote El Camino reworked " Just Ain't Gonna Work Out," ( arguably the best tune on his new record,) and it now melts. The tune is that discarded orange creamsicle melting in the hot hipster sun of the now distant Pool Parties.

Hawthorne's new record, A Strange Arrangement, drops on Sept. 8 -- it is vintage soul in a modern-day pop shell making for easy listening -- it isn't devoid of West Coast white boy attitude though... Good for these dwindling days of summer, but long-lasting enough to continue in the winter months aside a glass of burbon and Mad Men season three.

Little Boots "New in Town (Remix)" Emil & Friends

UPDATE: Due to some technical difficulties - this remix isn't available right now. Sucky. BUT - since we love Little Boots and it's the Friday before a long weekend, we figured we should probably just post her killer track "Mathematics again". So - here it is.

We received this track from Sweet Touch Records let's just say, too long ago, but it has graced the best of our electronic-dance party mixes. This tune bumps. Unless you are bat-blind, you know that Little Boots is ravaging the UK music scene; number one on BBC's Who to Watch in 2009 (former top-spots belong to Adele, Duffy, Ting Tings and Glasvegas,) Boots' Arecibo EP has generated pounds of press. Anticipating a June 8 UK-release of her debut record Hands (pre-order available on UK iTunes only) the buzz for this tenorion (her little light-bright-beat-machine) sensation. Stark contributor Lauren Mooney was lucky enough to catch Little Boots for an interview awhile back.

See a Boots tenorion demonstration for Hot Chip's "Ready for the Floor" after the jump. Pretty amazing.

Rock This: Roy G and the Biv Remix

[mp3]

What better way to kick off your weekend than with a certified JAM courtesy of our favorite Texas homeboys, Roy G and the Biv? The electro-pop duo and Best Of '08-contributors took an already-great pop song from star producer The Dream and did their 'thang to it, crafting a pulsating club banger that ecstasy trippers and indie kids alike can groove to. And under an Obama presidency, isn't that the kind of equality we can now all hope to achieve?

Anyway, the guys are currently holed up in their studio working on their full length and will be making an appearance in Austin followed by some east coast dates in April and May. They'll also be unveiling the video for "In My Cards," in the very near future. We don't condone gambling, but you should bet on seeing it here first.
