New Release: The Dodos - No Color

The Dodos are a subtle band -- this is by no means meant to be negative. They are unassuming, somewhat mysterious, but their music is explosive and ingenious at times. With songs that lean toward gang-vocal choruses, swooping melodies, intricate and highly technical drumming and complex song-contruction, The Dodos are a music-lovers band...It is easy to get lost in their musicianship. No Color, releasing on March 15th via good old Frenchkiss, marks the fourth release by these San Francisco natives. Neko Case joins on this release collaborating on a majority of the songs. We have been fans since the 2008 release of Visiter, an eccentric and near perfect record. 2011 should be an exciting year for The Dodos as they gear up to reemerge on the scene.

Pre-order the new record HERE on Feb.1.

We just wanted to throw up two new videos from The Dodo's - you know we love them. Their new record 'Time to Die' is pretty fantastic and it's nice to see this fearless duo getting the love they deserve. We've been enjoying these ABC features as well...

The Dodos Embrace Album Leak, Offer Full Stream

Yes, I am sure you know about and are probably listening to the new Dodos record which leaked recently. Well, doesn't matter now because the band don't care! That's right, they are embracing all your illegalities and offering up Time To Die, for a full stream. To top it off, the Dodos are going to release the album digitally July 28and Sept. 15 physically rather than the initially intended 9/15 date (via Frenchkiss). In addition, the new single, "Fables," is also available on the streaming site for download. Good for them -- sticking it to the man sticking it to the man.

Tour Alert: The Dodos

We have been following The Dodos since our blog's inception in early 2008. Visiter was one of those albums that when released, made us re-evaluate where modern music was heading; it was also one of the first album reviews we posted to the site aside from Andrew's Best Of list. There was some magical musical-hybrid occurring on that album, which was well, startling to us. These California natives are going to melt your face with some summery dates starting with the Northside Festival in Brooklyn coming up! They are playing on June 14 so there will be no conflict with our awesome line up at Cameo.

Dodos Video from Spiegelworld

Watch the full concert at baeblemusic.com

While we weren't at this particular show, we love the Dodos and had a pretty great time down at Spiegelworld for the bird and the bee show. As Dylan would say "It's like a carnival!" We also happened to catch the show Absinthe there before hand, which is pretty much a booze infused carnival with more T&A. It was awesome.

But anyway, the Dodo's are great. Enjoy.
