We've always known David Donero as a songwriter capable of great heights, but plagued with a nagging inconsistency. He's one of those artists you just hope will drop that amazing cover to cover record you know he has in him - the talent is there, the voice, the writing - yet, for some reason, he can't seem to break through the barriers in his writing and the industry that have kept him at bay for many years. He's a songwriter's songwriter -- Dondero makes you listen, makes you analyze, and on this track, makes you wait about a minute before playing the song. That's a jokey jab, at what is after the first few listens, a strong first offering from #Zero with a Bullet Donero's new album dropping 8/13 on long-time home Team Love. Here's to hoping this is Dondero's break through, but if it's not, David Dondero will remain a terrific songwriter, with many worthwhile highs interspersed through his catalog, and someone we will always pay attention to and cover for albums to come.

We've recently been turned on to Omaha based songwriter McCarthy Trenching. We recommend you get turned on as well. He's had long touring stints with Bright Eyes and M. Ward and is a treasure trove of sardonic, boozy lyrics. At times his voice sounds freakishly like The Drive By Trucker's Mike Cooley but his songs feel much more spontaneous. His last two records were put out by Team Love and maybe he's making a new record right now? Hard to tell as he currently has no dates listed (or really any news to announce) but check out this video of him rowing a boat. Nice form Mac.

Team Love is dropping the new Felice Brothers LP, Yonder Is The Clock on April 7th, and we're all pretty jazzed about it. And we're pleased as punch to offer the set's first single, "Run Chicken Run," today. Consider our appetites whetted. (Or is it wetted? We can never remember.) It's a great update on last year's self-titled record, containing the elements you've come to know and love from the boys -- rollicking accordion and fiddle, very-Dylanesque vocals and a made-in-the-mud chorus -- while improving the fidelity and adding new textures, like the fuzzy third verse. Felices Get Yonder On New Record

Fantastic news from the Team Love camp this morning, as staff favorites and All Points West standouts The Felice Brothers have announced an April 7th release date for their new LP, Yonder Is The Clock. It follows last year's excellent self-titled record that launched the band out of the Catskills and into the mainstream. We hear that bearded-kingpin and Avett-bud Rick Rubin offered to produce, but the band turned him down. Curious about that title?

Titled with a phrase drawn from the pages of Mark Twain, Yonder Is The Clock is a nod to all of the American ghosts that lend their narrative and characters to the forthcoming release. The Felice Brothers studio was built from the remains of an abandoned chicken coop and it was there over the summer and fall of 2008 that they wrote and recorded this new collection of songs. The record is teaming with tales of love, death, betrayal, baseball, train stations, phantoms, pandemics, jail cells, rolling rivers and frozen winter nights.

Ian, Simone, James, Christmas and Farley are bringing their moonshine rock on the road with them beginning in February with Old Crow Medicine Show. Tour dates and Yonder track list after the jump.
