[mp3] The Golden Filter: "Hide Me"

After a seeming eternity, The Golden Filter's debut record Voluspa is finally on the verge of being released. We have the first single "Hide Me" for you above. We caught this notoriously enigmatic dance-pop/beyond-disco group at Le Poisson Rouge on some hazy night last year -- and from what we can remember of this late-night rendezvous, they were hard-hitting as shit and got that room moving. While their recorded output seems a little more dialed down, it loses none of it's potency and quality. Voluspa comes out on June 15th in the US, and in April in the UK. Yes, they will be at SX. SXSW - The Golden Filter

Just wanted to make sure everyone had Golden Filter on their radar for this year's SX. We caught them at Le Poisson Rouge a few weeks ago and it was pretty much hard-hitting, late night, dance madness. Check out two of their mp3s HERE at our old post. They have been remixing even more great music of late, including upcoming tracks from Empire of the Sun and everyone's favorite Little Boots. At SX this year, The HYPE Machine offered The Golden Filter their headlining slot and they’ll also be gracing the stages of Gorilla vs Booze, Iheartcomix (official SXSW showcase), SXSW day stage and a slew of others before setting off to support The Presets on their extensive North American Tour. With all of their SX shows, Golden Filter are sure to loose some of their trademark mysticism, but with that loss comes the sure gain of droves of new paying fans. Ok. So maybe it's more like central Texas teardrops, but that's not a song. But yeah, your regular editors (Vince, Andrew, Matt) are not going to be at SXSW. We're over it, even if you may not be. We'll be in New York paying the bills at our day jobs. BUT, contributing writer Lauren Mooney will be there writing for Pop Rock Candy Mountain, and we are dispatching rogue writer and musician Tim Emmerick to the scene to see what Texas beer tastes like. Our guess is pretty fuckin' delicious.

Yes, there are hundreds of bands we'd like to see and lots of publicists we'd like to party with. But, we're not going to list all the bands or weep too much over our missed connections. Tim will be checking in with his musings from time-to-time, and we'll provide most of our updates that way. We just wanted to throw up the Gorilla vs. Bear showcase though because we think his line-up is pretty ace. He's got some of our favorite bands including Here We Go Magic, Harlem and new favorite Golden Filter (worth the price of admission alone even though it's free.) Go to the original post for set times and more great showcases. We'll throw up some more under the radar picks over the next few days including Crocodiles, Caitlin Rose and Ezra Furman. We'll see all of you back in NY after the fest anyway.

We've been highly anticipating more music from the ultra-elusive NY group The Golden Filter. They have been all over of-late releasing tracks and remixing Peter Bjorn & John, Cut Copy, and the awesome Empire of the Sun. They come from the Italians Do It Better school of electro- disco-pop, which is honestly damn fine with us. With Infectious melody, well produced beats and lovely female vocals The Golden Filter are fixed to be one of the more under the radar standouts of this genre in 2009. We're heading out to Le Poisson Rouge this Friday to catch The Golden Filter in one of their first North American shows. After NY, they head to Europe and SXSW before setting out on a tour with the Presets, which finds them back at Webster Hall April 3. The LPR show is being presented by Friction NYC and also includes Heartsrevolution, Pink Skull, and DJ's Finger on the Pulse. Going to be awesome. Tour dates and a video after the jump.
