The Features Prep New LP, 7-inch

Nashville's The Features return on July 26 with their third studio effort The Wilderness. It'll be released through Kings of Leon's Serpents and Snakes label and, strangely, it seems those Followill's have an ear for radio-ready alt. rock. The lead single "Rambo" blends in just enough spaghetti western riffology to keep their middle of the road guitars and vocals interesting. That track will be featured on a 7-inch along with B-side "That Much I Know" available through the band's website or at selected indie record shops.

New Features Comin' in June

[MP3]
As the press release openly states, The Features sort of fell off the radar after generating a great deal of buzz behind their great debut Exhibit A and subsequent shows with Kings of Leon, the Raconteurs and The Walkmen. Well, Nashville's The Features are back with Some Kind of Salvation (6/9) which "combines the eclectic, folksy sensibility of the band’s EP, The Beginning (2003, Fierce Panda), with the driving, live energy of Exhibit A (2006, Universal)." We just received our copy yesterday, and the first few run-throughs have been quite satisfying. You'll hear more on this in the coming weeks for sure, but for now check out an MP3. Dexateens - New Video + Tour Dates + MP3

[MP3]
Dexateens - "Down Low"

Tuscaloosa, Alabama's the Dexateens prepare to release their debut album, Singlewide, dropping May 12 on Skybucket/Cornelius Chapel Records. These 'Bama boys conjure images of jangling Kinks, with Ray Davies-esque, nasal-lead, scratchy vocals and hooky choruses. 2:57 running time, "Down Load" bounces along, only after a slow start, but picks up speed with that Traveling Wilburys sound; i.e.hard-strumming, layered-acoustic patterns. It's definitely a good start for this down low band, from down south.
