Nite Jewel "Weak for Me"

We wrote a few days ago about our love for Nite Jewel's lo-fi, disco-pop awesomeness. Today, we received a new MP3 and details on her highly anticipated debut LP. Human Ear Music will release Good Evening on March 17th. The first MP3 from the record "Weak for Me" is above. Nite Jewel is comprised of Occidental College senior, Ramona Gonzalez and multimedia artist, Emily Jane. As we mentioned previously, Nite Jewel hits the road for several dates, including a bunch at SXSW and a special Italians Do It Better showcase in NY with Glass Candy at Le Poisson Rouge. On a rather uninspired blog morning, new Nite Jewel is pretty much the only thing to get (me at least) excited. Good Evening track list, a video, and tour dates after the jump.

Thanks again to Other Music for their great taste in stocking a limited run of a six song CD-R from LA's Nite Jewel. We've been listening for a few months, and even though it's decidedly lo-fi, there are glimpses of the awesomeness to come from this youngster from the West Coast. It's another entry into the school of '09 bedroom-disco-pop, but hey, when shit's good, it's good. She recently played at the oft-buzzed and oft-awesome, the Smell in LA with Gang Gang Dance and Ariel Pink. Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti are hitting the road with the Vivian Girls, in what should be a great tour. We're still pretty pissed at the Vivian Girls though.

Glass Candy - New Release

Hey all,
Take a break from all that crazy CMJing and check out GVB's post on the new Glass Candy album, Deep Gems... (love that title.) The record release party will take place this weekend in Portland.
GVB's post follows bellow:

"Glass Candy is throwing a party in Portland this weekend with their friends Nite Jewel and Plano, TX's own Farah. This is the release party for that new Nite Jewel 12" I mentioned a couple weeks ago, and Glass Candy will also be giving away a new b-sides/rarities comp. According to the band:

'...at the party we will be giving away a new Glass Candy cd called DEEP GEMS,
which is a collection of singles, b sides, and rarities. in between touring like
crazy, glass candy has been in the studio every possible moment working on a new
lp for 2009. in the meantime, deep gems is a collection of rare tracks recorded
between march 2006 and october 2008...' "
