TONIGHT: Dawes and Blitzen Trapper

Blitzen Trapper: "Love the Way You Walk Away"

Dawes and Blitzen Trapper hit New York tonight at Webster Hall, for a stacked bill.

It’s been a groundbreaking year for Dawes on the back of their latest effort – Nothing is Wrong (ATO). With several US-spanning national tours, including the current tour with Blitzen Trapper, and over 30k records scanned, Dawes have established themselves as power-players on the current musical landscape. They have a special connection with fans (casual and diehard) in that people WANT them to succeed. Despite never speaking with them personally, Dawes have a trusted and valued team working with them, and the band’s earnestness and passion come across in every song and live show. Shockingly, tonight will be our first live experience with a band we’ve been longtime fans of. We’re certainly looking forward to it. The remainder of Dawes tour dates are after the jump.

The above is not to take anything away from the amazing Blitzen Trapper who share the bill tonight. Their deeply satisfying new record American Goldwing is out now.

Time Spent In Los Angeles

Certainly one of the best tracks off of Dawes' excellent album Nothing is Wrong. Glad to see these guys doing so well. Hard working band makes good... or so they say. Enjoy.

New Dawes and Seapony Records Announced

Nothing is Wrong releases June 7th on ATO. A self-described “American rock ‘n’ roll band,” Dawes represent everything pure and true about that fundamental delineation, four talented friends making music together, fueled by a shared belief in the power of their songs. With Nothing Is Wrong, singer/guitarist Goldsmith, his brother Griffin on drums, keyboardist Tay Strathairn, and bassist Wylie Gelber – continue to master their blend of singer/songwriter reflection with folk, country, and AOR-inspired arrangements, all ringing guitars, soaring harmonies, and heartfelt melodies.

Seattle three-piece Seapony has announced album details for their debut full-length, Go With Me, forthcoming May 31 on Hardly Art. An mp3 of "Blue Star" is also now available, which is the first new Seapony material since their "Dreaming" single was released last fall. The music of Seapony is refreshing in its simplicity. Most songs on Go With Me use no more than three chords, with an average running time around two-and-a-half minutes.

Yours Truly Does Middle Brother With Mountain Man

MP3 - Middle Brother, "Me Me ME"

We here at Stark are true believers in the healing powers of a lonely country ballad and a little hair of the dog. Looks like we're on the same page with the boys from Middle Brother. The group is made up of the frontmen from Deer Tick, Dawes and Delta Spirit. They connected with their Partisan label mates Mountain Man at the Troubador in Los Angeles for Yours Truly's Invisible Child Holiday Benefit. The charity raises money and awareness to end the use of child soldiers in Norther Uganda.

MG&V is Deer Tick, Dawes, and Delta Spirit

It's the goddamn Americana Traveling Willburys. Ok, while it's not Bob Dylan and George Harrison MG&V IS John McCauley - frontman of Deer Tick, Taylor Goldsmith - frontman of Dawes and Matt Vasquez - frontman of Delta Spirit. It's a three for three win -- featuring members of some of Stark's favorite bands. We don't have music yet, but we will soon. Here are the details from the PR.
As the project began to take shape, McCauley and Goldsmith decided Matt Vasquez was the man to complete their vision for the project. A few days after tape started rolling, Vasquez arrived in Nashville - never having met McCauley. The three songwriters immediately bonded and proceeded to make a timeless masterpiece. Dawes drummer Griffin Goldsmith also joined the group to contribute percussion.

MG&V will make their world debut at the Coda Agency SXSW Showcase at the Ale House on Friday, March 19th at 1 AM.

Album details will be released later in the year. Expect MG&V announcements at
