We're Telling You About White Lies

They are great. Named to the number two spot on BBC's list of Who to Watch in 2009, White Lies are yet another London band emerging from the depths of the U.K.'s indie-underbelly. Their debut record, To Lose My Life, is set to release March 17 on Geffen/Fiction. White Lies are coming to the states and are booked on a nice set of tour dates including SXSW with Friendly Fires and Letterman on March 24.

BBC Names Number One Artist to Watch in 2009

Following their recently posted list of 15 noteworthy emerging artists of 2009, the BBC cut and prioritized...the result, oh yes, a Top 10 list. Leaving little to the imagination, the BBC titled their newest artist compilation, "BBC Sound of 2009 Top 10." Former list toppers included, Adele, Duffy, The Ting Tings and Glasvegas -- their success bodes well for the new numero uno.

The "Sound" list includes the likes of Cambridge, Mass. electro-pop guru Passion Pit (a.k.a. Michael Angelakos,)Paris' sampler and beat-dropper Dan Black and more.

BBC's Who To Watch For In 2009

BBC Entertainment News just dropped 15 artists deemed likely to succeed in the new year. There are a few names you might be familiar with -- Little Boots (our latest Inquisition victim) and Passion Pit are stand-outs for us. The online formatting is fantastic: simple and very user friendly, including a streaming track and write up for each of the performers listed. The Brits are taking over...watch out.

R.I.P - Pink Floyd Founding Member, Richard Wright Dies at 65

Sad news today from the UK. Pink Floyd loses another founding member as Richard Wright passed away at age 65. Below are the details from BBC News...

"Wright appeared on the group's first album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, in 1967 alongside lead guitarist Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Nick Mason. Dave Gilmour joined the band at the start of 1968 while Barrett left the group shortly afterwards.

Wright penned songs on classic albums including The Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.

His spokesman said: "The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer.

"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

He did not say what form of cancer the self-taught keyboard player and pianist had."
