New Santigold - "Disparate Youth"

"Disparate Youth" is the first track released from Santigold's much-anticipated, and well-overdue sophomore release, Master of My Make-Believe. The track will be available on iTunes tomorrow in the states. From what we hear, it seems like more of the same from Santi, but good nonetheless. Since her debut release in 2008, which we recently just put back on our iPods, Santigold's fan base has been clambering for more music...it has been over three years now. Is "Disparate Youth" what you are looking for? Will it get P4K Best New Track? Perhaps, but the time is here. Santigold is back.

New Santigold (Finally): "Big Mouth"

Santigold was one of the first Artist to Watch pieces we ever wrote for Stark. That was a long time ago. For an artist of her stature, it was near shocking the amount of time she spent without releasing proper new material. But, today is that day. On the back of reportedly spectacular MHOW shows, Santigold has dropped a new track and video today. "Big Mouth" is tribal and rhythmic, two traits easily characterized by Santi's early work. Yet, this is grittier, meaner, modern, and a little less pop oriented. Not sure if it's a hit, but it's a cool first look for someone out of the spotlight for too long. New album coming this spring. David Bryne, Santigold and Fatboy Slim Release New Track

If you are an avid David Byrne fan, and even if you are not (you should be!) you probably know that he has been in collaboration with Fat Boy Slim, both huddled behind closed doors walking through Byrne's "arboretum" of a brain; the final goal, a new Byrne record titled, Here Lies Love, which releases on Feb. 23 via Todomundo/Nonesuch (according to P4K). Though shedding the Eno/Byrne Everything That Happens-Topspin-model of full album stream, Byrne is staying somewhat true to form, only offering the new track "Please Don't" for download via his website (with email address.) Regardless, with big hitter names such as the one's above, it was a non-issue to generously send our email address into the oblivion of The Internets.

The new track is...interesting to say the least, but respectable none-the-less.

Enjoy! Happy Wednesday.
