New Warpaint: "Undertow"

[mp3] Warpaint: "Undertow"
By far one of our most anticipated albums of the Fall, Warpaint's The Fool drops 10/25 on Rough Trade. Check out the new tune "Undertow" above. Depending this record, these West Coast gals from way back, could be massive. Will be an interesting rest of the year! They're hitting the road w/ the XX in a few.Tweet

What Happened to YACHT?
Remember YACHT? Yeah, they released that much-buzzed-about album, See Mystery Lights what seems like decades ago. We live-Twittered the album track-by-track here. So what happened to them? We'll tell you what -- The XX -- that's what happened to them and that's all we have to say about that. Regardless, in this beautifully shot video above from a YACHT performance in Paris (Thanks GrandCrew folks!), you get a sense of why this album was, and still is, kick ass/a major contender for "Best of 2009 Lists" -- at least some of us here. Fuck The XX (this is a maid speaking by the way.)

New Video: The XX -"Basic Space"
We have been on a bit of an XX kick these past few days. Some have described this album as a "heroin addiction they just can't kick --" that being the case, druggies beware. Addiction lies inside this jewel case. Did I just write a promo sticker that will, from now on and forever, run with this record? Yep. The video above is a pseudo-behind the scenes Pitchfork TV special for the band's tune "Basic Space." XX's self-titled debut is full of electronic ebb and flow --while truly delightful and mesmerizing, the record tends to do little else. We love it though, even if it grinds the gears in first at times.
The XX will be opening at Sean Bones' record release party at Mercury Lounge this evening.

The XX Take New York

[mp3] The XX "Basic Space"
Today, Fader gave us the new mp3 from England's newest exports The XX. While much is made of their love for soul music, that's not really what we take away from their music. It's more about the languid male/female vocals melodies and the band's ability to play by not playing too much. They hint at dance rhythms, but they are almost too laid back for that. We haven't had a full listen to their debut LP yet, but we're definitely looking forward to it. Comes out on Young Turks/XL October 20th. There are plenty of chances to catch The XX in New York coming up, including a free show at South Street Seaport with School of Seven Bells. See tour dates after the jump.
Aug 07 - New York NY - Mercury Lounge (with Free Energy and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic)
Aug 12 - New York NY - Pianos
Aug 13 - Brooklyn NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg - with Friendly Fires
Aug 14 - New York NY - South Street Seaport (with School of Seven Bells)
