Keep Shelly in Athens: "Recollection"

Recalling the nostalgic elements of our dearly departed Air France with the "magic hour" haze of JJ - Keep Shelly in Athens' new track "Recollection" announces the return of the Athens duo, and the announcement of their new album At Home 9/17 on Cascine.

New Keep Shelly in Athens

Yesterday we received the long awaited new single from Stark favorites Keep Shelley in Athens. Hard at work on their debut full length, the mysterious group has signed to Cascine and we're sure to be seeing much more from them soon. Looking forward to it.

Playing Catch Up: Body Language

Body Language found themselves on our short list of CMJ bands to watch. After a late late show, where we couldn't tell if it was our ears or the band that was a little off,  so we're still left on the fence about this band's live show. YET! Luckily for us, Body Language are playing with the excellent (on record at least) Keep Shelly in Athens this Friday at Bowery Ballroom. Needless to say, we're excited to see how both bands deliver on the great equalizer of all buzz bands - the large stage at Bowery. Body Language just debuted their super creative video for their excellent tune "Holiday" from their album Social Studies, out now.

Keep Shelly in Athens Peel Back Mystery

It seems with each successive track, tour date, and news announcement the shroud of mystery that has long surrounded Keep Shelly in Athens is peeled back bit by bit. Following the seemingly same trajectory of like minded artist JJ, KSIA have grown past being just nameless, photo-less musicians from across the Atlantic. For months, they let their excellent gauzy pop-minded electronic compositions speak for the band. But now, they are developing into a “real” group, complete with a 12” release, US tour dates and photos. Long the personal baby band of Gorilla vs. Bear, the blog’s label Forest Family has paid it forward by putting out their upcoming album Our Own Dream, due Nov 8. We wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if a larger indie label picked up this talented Grecian duo for a larger release in 2012. For now, enjoy the new single "DIY" above, and catch them on their first US tour. Dates after the jump.

Ghost In My Head

Chalk this one up to inbox glut, but somehow we missed a very nice note from Stockholm's Christian Niva, promoting his quite lovely EP Feverish Dreams that came out last March. You may recognize Niva (his artistic nom de plume) from his recent remixes for Blackbird Blackbird and The Concretes, but he's absolutely worth checking out in his own right. After an initial introduction via Keep Shelly In Athens' Twitter, Niva has been turning some heads in the rest of the Twittersphere, and it's certainly well deserved. Grab his EP on all DSPs.
