Playing Catch Up: Body Language

Body Language found themselves on our short list of CMJ bands to watch. After a late late show, where we couldn't tell if it was our ears or the band that was a little off,  so we're still left on the fence about this band's live show. YET! Luckily for us, Body Language are playing with the excellent (on record at least) Keep Shelly in Athens this Friday at Bowery Ballroom. Needless to say, we're excited to see how both bands deliver on the great equalizer of all buzz bands - the large stage at Bowery. Body Language just debuted their super creative video for their excellent tune "Holiday" from their album Social Studies, out now.

Body Language Streaming at NPR

Body Language, who find themselves at the top of our CMJ to-do list, are streaming their new record / EP Social Studies this week at NPR in anticipation of its release next week on Lavish Habits / OM Records. There are more than a few familiar touchpoints to their sound, including the tired blogger-cliches such as "indie dance-pop" and "reverb-soaked" but at their core Body Language are breaking new ground. Behind this solid collection of singles, the Brooklyn quartet have more in common with left field tour partners Keep Shelly in Athens and early Animal Collective, than they do with easy touchpoints such as Cults or Passion Pit. Stream the record now, and check them out at several CMJ shows. Dates after the jump.
