WHY? and Mount Eerie Touring Together/Apart - New Mount Eerie Record

Mount Eerie "Flaming Home" - mp3
Keeping up with all of Phil Elverum's projects and releases is not always the easiest thing. Along with the the reissue of his widely hailed "lo-fi masterpiece" The Glow pt. 2, Elverum has worked on various projects. What we're looking forward to most is Lost Wisdom, a collaboration with Julie Doiron and Fred Squire recorded under the Mount Eerie moniker. Mount Eerie is launching a massive tour including dates with WHY?. Lost Wisdom comes out October 7 on his own label P.W. Elverum and Sun. Check out the new mp3 above. Look for some excellent, slightly atmospheric folk that comes straight from the Northwest United States. Check out Elverum's artist page as well.

WHY?'s record Alopecia was released earlier this year to much acclaim. The record is good, but hasn't quite resonated the way I had hoped. Time for another listen I think. Alopecia just makes me think of Stan Sitwell. ("Dude can't even grow his own hair? Come on!"). According to the press release, WHY? has been touring their asses off, but somehow Yoni and Josiah Wolf managed to get the mumps - to cap it off Yoni broke his hand. Despite falling on these rough times, they booked a massive North American tour. WHY? and Mount Eerie are playing the Bowery Ballroom in NY on 9/18.

How can you not love that album? One of the best of '08 by far.
