Sebastian Tellier - Sexuality and American Apparel

Sebastian Tellier - "Divine" - mp3
It seems almost impossible to write about music these days without simultaneously writing about the business model behind it. For better or worse, such is the case with my new release pick of the week, Sexuality from artist Sebastian Tellier. While available in clean form on iTunes for quite some time, the "explicit" physical version will be available exclusively from those dirty girls (and guys) at American Apparel (A.A.) That's right, the sweatshop-free clothing line will be selling this new release at their stores nationwide. If you think about it, it's not a bad idea – the niche fans of A.A. almost assuredly match up with the niche fans of this French-electronica artist. Not to mention there are way more American Apparel stores than record stores these days. No matter what marketing plan lies behind it, the record is pretty killer. Tellier teams up with Daft Punk's Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, producing one of the most evocative releases (and cover designs) of the summer.
