We were here, bleary eyed, shell-shocked, and well-satisfied after a day of playing army in the Fader Fort. We love Deluka. Seen them about 200 times this year touring behind their new record You Are The Night. T'was also on this chilly CMJ night that we finally met the outstanding folks behind Baeble. We shared free pizza, commiserated about the week, and decided that yes, Deluka would be our last show of CMJ. We parted ways, happy, our dance-rock bones sufficiently rattled... "Vámonos, amigos," Vince whispered, and threw the busted leather flintcraw over the loose weave of the saddlecock. And we rode on in the friscalating dusklight.

One of the fastest rising stars out there right now, Rock Island, Illinois' Lissie has been all over the press of late, including this rag. She remains one of the most striking talents we've seen (and spoken with) in recent memory. Her EP Why You Runnin' (out now on Fat Possum) gives merely a glimpse as to the many facets Lissie offers. You need to see her live (tonight) to get a true sense of the powerful voice, commanding stage presence, and finely wrought songwriting. 'It's Harder Now That It's Over" Ryan Adams, No More Music

"me- 34-a non smoker and happy, for the first time in my life.. i am excited to finish this wonderful time i have had with the cardinals and whatever new adventures may come after march. atlanta will be my last venture with the band and i am grateful for the time we have had and maybe someday we will have more stories to tell together. i am however ready for quieter times as i think it is very evident i am struggling with some balance and hearing issues."

Oh shit, Ryan Adams is going deaf and is suffering from vertigo. This is him planting the seed. He is going into remission and as our own Andrew Daniels said, "Bah! I give it like two months before he announces his new record is coming out." Don't we all agree. His blog post is long. Too long, and we didn't care to read the whole thing. It's like Kanye, post-Bonnaroo-tirade long. Well, he is quitting music, blogging, smoking and whatever else he does.

Look at Khan in all his glory. We had just seen him the night before McCarren at the Mercury Lounge -- a show which raged on past 3 am. Khan was burnt out, yet somehow he still managed to muster the ball-breaking vocal screams, softcore nudity and dirty sexual innuendos. Oh and yeah, that cheerleader is still rocking hard. Gotta love her. "Everyone get a dollar bill out. Don't be fucking assholes," Khan says. Well, sorry Khan, you made us burn all our money the night before. Yep, we thought that was against the law.
