It's A Boy

Only Son, who last week played a decidedly good-feeling and upbeat album release show, have just released a new video for their song "It's A Boy." The single is a Gattica-inspired quest for perfection (genetic or otherwise) that rests on a solid groove and a sweetly melancholic melody that falls somewhere between early Death Cab and more modern indie-rock fare. Only Son's album is varied and diverse, which is a positive in that it demonstrates a mastery of different styles including Teenage Fanclub power pop and Crazy Horse style psych rock but a detriment as it seems somewhat unfocused. The pretty (female) face in the video probably looks familiar as it's Aleksa Palladino from the excellent Boardwalk Empire.
