Diane Birch and The Phenomenal Handclap Band -- The Velveteen Age

Diane Birch w/ The Phenomenal Hand Clap Band - Kiss Them For Me by dianebirch

Would you believe us if we told you that New York's own Diane Birch and The Phenomenal Handclap Band have combined to produced a covers EP? This musical-amalgamation doesn't immediately strike one as the perfect hyrbid of styles; Birch's traditionally-sweet song constructions and pinpoint-lyrical prowess, doesn't always stack up against a well-oiled, electro-driven,R&B-infused pop act such as PHB. Regardless, it just happened and the result is their newest EP, The Velveteen Age which dropped on Tuesday via S-Curve Records. This unlikely duo covers the likes of Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Divison, The Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees and more. Enjoy two tracks off the new EP above (Siouxsie & the Banshees - "Kiss Them for Me") and below (Echo & The Bunnymen - "Bring on the Dancing Horses.") The album is ultimately a success and how could it not be with pitch-perfect vocals and grooves that lock into place early, never deviating.
