Elvis Perkins in Dearland's self-titled record has been on the iPod new-release shuffle since we got it. As Stereogum pointed out when they debuted the video for "Shampoo," the lead track, it's clearly one of the stand-out folk/rock songs of the year. There is something truly captivating about the song, and it translates well live. Perkins & Co. are an excellent live band, and we're looking forward to watching them perform and develop these songs on stage. More often than not, they will grow into full band parties featuring crazy bass drums, guitars and whatever toys they've happened to dig up at the local, second-hand music store.
